German cosmetics group Beiersdorf will invest €230 million for the construction of new headquarters and a new R&D centre in Hamburg-Eimsbüttel, Germany, where the group is currently based. The new buildings are expected to be inaugurated in 2021 and will host 3,000 employees. The area dedicated to R&D will expand significantly, growing from the current 11,000 m2 to 45,000 m2.

Beiersdorf's future headquarters

According to Stefan H. Heidenreich, the CEO of Beiersdorf, the new Hamburg headquarters are a clear marker of the group's ambitious growth plans. "In the last few years, our performance has been satisfactory. We have significantly grown our international business, developed break-through innovations and set Beiersdorf on a regular profitability path (...)," he said.

In 2016, Beiersdorf, the owner of Nivea, Eucerin and La Prairie, saw its revenue grow by 1% over 2015, reaching €6.75 billion (+3.2% before exchange rate adjustments). The majority of revenue is generated by the skincare products of the Consumer division's brands, which are worth €5.606 billion.
