Barcelona launches fashion trade show

Published
Mar 25, 2009

Barcelona is aiming to become one of the strong centres for world fashion. After the departure of ‘Bread & Butter’ to Berlin the Catalan capital is launching – as we reported on January 23 – a professional tradeshow for off-the-peg clothing: ‘The Brandery. Post Fashion Circus’. The first event will run from July 7-9 in Montjuïc and should become a regular biannual fixture.

Organised by Fira Barcelona with the support of Barcelona City Council, ‘The Brandery’ should bring together two hundred and fifty national and international off-the-peg labels and attract around 10,000 visitors.

Director of Development for Fira Barcelona, Pere Camprubi, explained on March 19 during a presentation for the new tradeshow that ‘The Brandery’ will be split into five areas, “the ‘Fira’ will be the commercial meeting area between exhibiters and clients; ‘ Brandtown’, serves as the outer leisure area, with restaurants, bars, and chill-out zone; ‘Brandstreet’ will house merchandising, the press, clients and the brand catwalk; ‘The Laundry’ will serve as a laboratory for ideas, debates, exhibitions and reflections; and, in ‘The City’, those present will be able attend the events, parties and exhibitions connected to the trade fair”
