'Breakthrough in Fashion,' the fashion conference launched last year by Creative Industry Hub, returns to London for a second season this October.

The event promises to create a “fair playing ground” for emerging talent

The event will be held at the London Irish Centre in Camden, providing a platform where fashion designers can connect with renowned buyers, attend numerous workshops, get feedback on their collections and compete for a cash prize.

Organisers said the event will include “revolutionary” new features, like its ‘Meet The Buyer’ networking sessions, where fashion buyers from leading brands will meet each one of the 300 designers throughout the day.

Headline sponsor and exhibitor, London Ethnic will be running a competition that will reward five designers with the opportunity to showcase their work throughout the day. One winner will also receive a cash prize and other perks.

BTIF 2017 will also feature a series of talks, with Touker Suleyman, CEO at Hawes and Curtis/Ghost, And Dragon's Den Investor; Bianca Miller, CEO at The Be Group/Founder at Bianca Miller London, and Apprentice Finalist Eltoria already confirmed as speakers.

The workshops will cover a wide range of topics including 'How to Build A Successful Fashion Business,’ ‘The Story of A Successful Fashion Brand,' 'Fashion Branding,' 'Celebrity Endorsement,' 'How To Seek And Secure Funding,' 'Connecting And Partnering With Bloggers/Vloggers/Influencers,' 'Finance/Cash Flow/Cost Control/Tax, and more.

The event is organised by Creative Industry Hub’s CEO George Taylor, who has been organising initiates for music, fashion, film, art and blogging professionals in London since launching a music industry networking event in November 2013.

He has also worked with a list of brands including House of Fraser, WGSN, Jigsaw, Dorothy Perkins, London College of Fashion, Sony Music and Stella & Dot.

“When I lauched my first business, I quickly realised that there was something inherently wrong with the way that fashion designers are educated and introduced to the workplace after University,” he comments.

“After doing some more research, I quickly discovered that every year, roughly 4000 designers graduate from University, but only a small handful of them secure in-house design roles. Independent designers are entering a highly competitive marketplace and often find it difficult to break through. Like last year, this initiative will create a fair playing ground for all, by improving fashion designers' skills and knowledge, helping them to boost their career and/or businesses, and connect them with the leading buyers.”

‘Breakthrough in Fashion’ will take place on 26 October at the London Irish Centre in Camden.
