Monki, H&M’s young fashion brand, is set to open its first store in the North of England at Manchester Arndale. It will be the fifth Monki location in the UK, following the success of its stores in London, Bristol and Glasgow.

The brand has signed an agreement to take a 5,600 sq ft space on New Cannon Street within Manchester Arndale. The store will stock the brand’s trendy and quirky designs, including clothing, accessories and footwear for women.

The signing represents a step forward for the brand, which launched in 2005 and has now over 115 stores in 14 countries.

It follows the arrival of Australian handbag designer, Colette at Manchester Arndale as part of two British store openings, in addition to London.

“The fact that leading, internationally known brands, choose the centre as a key location for their expansion in Northern England, is further testament to Manchester Arndale’s prominent position as one of the UK’s leading retail hubs,” commented Kannika Mall, asset manager at M&G Real Estate.

“Manchester Arndale is the ideal location for exciting brands seeking to expand and grow their UK presence, as we have seen with the latest arrivals of exciting fashion brands such as Victoria’s Secret and Paul Smith.”

Other brands with a presence at the centre include G Star Raw, H&M, House of CB, Lipsy, Miss Selfridge, River Island and Simply Be.
