Concrete is a platform set up to invest in and support the most promising technology start-ups in the property industry focused on driving efficiencies and responding to changes in the sector.

The tie-up continues an ongoing tech push by Hammerson to embrace new technologies and improve both the way it manages its shopping centres and different aspects of the customer experience.

In 2017, the company partnered with leading artificial intelligence tech group, Cortexica to launch Style Seeker, a product search tool which is integrated into apps.

The AI partnership will also see the roll-out of chatbots across Hammerson’s shopping centre portfolio following a successful trial at Bullring in Birmingham.

With Concrete, Hammerson will work as its strategic retail partner. Concrete’s investment in start-up companies helps them access capital for growth and build industry relationships and accelerate product development. The platform is already working with an AI start-up and an online workspace company.

“The partnership with Concrete provides us with a unique opportunity to gain a deeper insight in emerging technologies and take our leading approach to innovation a step further,” commented Kathryn Malloch, Group Product Innovation Manager for Hammerson.

“Working with ambitious prop-tech businesses allows us to support their growth while at the same time offering us creative solutions and a fresh way of approaching challenges to the retail sector.”
