Chanel new face is punk rocker Alice Dellal

The pool of Chanel muses has a new denizen. The classic fashion house represented by the two intertwined C's has announced that British rocker Alice Dellal will be the face of the campaign for its Boy Chanel handbag line. Photographed by Karl Lagerfeld Himself, it will debut in March and is intended to be a bit unexpected. The choice of this somewhat grunge it-girl, according to the fashion house, reflects "the singularity of the Boy Chanel bags, which is far removed from the clichés of conventional femininity." More subtle and less pronounced, almost androgynous, the line in question needed to be brought to the forefront.

A member of Britain’s gilded youth (sister of the footwear designer Charlotte Olympia and Charlotte Casiraghi’s boyfriend, Alex Dellal), Alice Dellal is model, DJ and member of a punk band all in one, but she is perhaps best known for the unconventional rock n’ roll appeal of her hairstyle – long on one side, and shaved on the other.

She has already served as the muse for Paule Ka, Ermanno Scervino, Agent Provocateur and Mango.
